A Thankful Thanksgiving!
“Happiness is wanting what you have, not having what you want.”
I have this phrase written on my bathroom mirror in eyeliner. Stays up surprisingly well under multiple washings. My Grandmother saw it and commented about it’s wisdom. That made me very happy, getting grandma points isn’t always easy. There’s always some cuter kid in some other family members house showing some amazing skill that is simply beyond years. But I digress…
Happiness is measured differently for everyone. For me and my parents, happiness was waking up early on Thanksgiving morning and meeting with friends in downtown Sac to play Christmas carols for the Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot! This was happiness.
I can’t seem to face the drive to Sac this year without Pops.
So instead, thankfully, my town has a similar event on Vernon St where my shop is. And, thankfully again, I have an incredibly understanding and charitable boyfriend who doesn’t mind playing a little music with me for the runners. Now there won’t be 25,000 race participants, so I won’t be able to join in a 26-round rendition of “Feliz navidad”, but we all have to make sacrifices.
So Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours. I’m so thankful to be starting the day with my beautiful community!
